Forever Home: How We Turned Our House into a Haven for Abandoned, Abused, and Misunderstood Dogs—and Each Other by Ron Danta, Danny Robertshaw, and Larry Lindner is a wonderful and heartfelt book。 It was a bit hard to read because I just lost my rescue German shepherd doggo suddenly after 10。5 years。Forever Home is the poignant story of how Danny and Ron found each other during a time they each needed rescuing and how they transformed their home into a haven for dogs in need。 A beautiful book th Forever Home: How We Turned Our House into a Haven for Abandoned, Abused, and Misunderstood Dogs—and Each Other by Ron Danta, Danny Robertshaw, and Larry Lindner is a wonderful and heartfelt book。 It was a bit hard to read because I just lost my rescue German shepherd doggo suddenly after 10。5 years。Forever Home is the poignant story of how Danny and Ron found each other during a time they each needed rescuing and how they transformed their home into a haven for dogs in need。 A beautiful book that is a must-read for any animal lover。I highly recommend this book。 A 5 out of 5 stars。#ForeverHome #NetGalley @HarperOneBooks 。。。more

I went into this book already familiar with Danny and Ron's rescue after watching the documentary on Netflix awhile back and being amazed at what they have accomplished。 I was excited to read this book and loved getting more of their story。 These two are among the most generous of people, both with their time and their money。 Having done just a bit of fostering for my local shelter, volunteering at the shelter and having my own (often high maintenance - I know how to pick 'em!) furry crew, I get I went into this book already familiar with Danny and Ron's rescue after watching the documentary on Netflix awhile back and being amazed at what they have accomplished。 I was excited to read this book and loved getting more of their story。 These two are among the most generous of people, both with their time and their money。 Having done just a bit of fostering for my local shelter, volunteering at the shelter and having my own (often high maintenance - I know how to pick 'em!) furry crew, I get a firsthand glimpse into the amount of work put in to rehabilitate all these dogs in need and the heartbreak of not being able to help them all。 While not everyone is in a financial position to do what Danny and Ron have done, we can all learn from their selfless and loving attitudes。 Please consider fostering。 If you can't foster, adopt! Can't make a lifelong commitment? Volunteer at your local shelter or rescue! Short on time? Donate! Check with your local shelter to see what their needs are。 For those who want to adopt a Danny and Ron dog after reading this book or watching their documentary, please remember, shelters everywhere are full of amazing dogs (and cats and more) in need of homes。 Your new best friend may be just down the road, waiting for you to change his/her fate! Thanks to Harperone and NetGalley for the eARC in exchange for my honest review。 。。。more

Danny and Ron both worked with horses for years before they met, and eventually became a couple。 Both animal lovers, they were upset by the impact of Hurricane Katrina on so many dogs。 In addition to the Katrina dogs, they started to rescue abandoned, abused, and unwanted animals。 (There was even a documentary film made about them: Life in the Doghouse。) Their caring sincerity shines through the narrative and, with so much wrong in the world, it’s good to read about kindness for a change。 Thanks Danny and Ron both worked with horses for years before they met, and eventually became a couple。 Both animal lovers, they were upset by the impact of Hurricane Katrina on so many dogs。 In addition to the Katrina dogs, they started to rescue abandoned, abused, and unwanted animals。 (There was even a documentary film made about them: Life in the Doghouse。) Their caring sincerity shines through the narrative and, with so much wrong in the world, it’s good to read about kindness for a change。 Thanks to Edelweiss and the publisher for the ARC。 。。。more
